Prep Time:25 minutesmins
Cook Time:7 minutesmins
Total Time:32 minutesmins
Equipment
1 electric hand mixer
Ingredients
½cupsalted butter
⅔cupgranulated sugar
1½teaspoonvanilla extract
2TablespoonsmilkI like whole milk here
1cupall-purpose flour
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350*
2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the flour evenly across the baking sheet. You have to bake the flour to be sure you get rid of any harmful bacteria that can be lingering in the flour.
3. Let the flour bake for 5-7 minutes. You don't want the flour to turn brown, so do keep an eye on it! Let the flour cool completely before continuing with the recipe.
4. In a large mixing bowl (or use your stand mixer!) stir together the butter and sugar until it's light and fluffy. Once combined, feel free to cream it with the mixer. It would take 3ish minutes to get it light and fluffy with the hand mixer.
5. Add in the vanilla extract, the heat-treated flour, salt and 2 tablespoons of the milk. Mix (on a low speed) until the dough comes together. Don't worry if it's a little bit crumbly. If it's WAY too crumbly, add in another 1-2 tablespoons of milk until you get your desired consistency.
6. If you want to mix anything into the cookie dough, now is the time! I don't usually put anything in the dough. I opt for rolling the dough balls into sprinkles if I want to add anything.
7. The best way to keep your dough bites close to a uniform size is to use a cookie scoop to get the same amount of dough in each bite.
8. I like to roll them in festive sprinkles once I have them in nice, round, ball shapes!
